About the department

Started in 2017, the Cinematography for Electronic and Digital Media department at SRFTI aims to impart the knowledge of classical learning of cinematography combined with the digital technology of the art.Following the rise of OTT and other digital media platforms, the primary goal of this department is to provide specialized, in-depth knowledge of digital cinematography as well as familiarizing students with the visual art & aesthetics. Here, we offer a diverse curriculum that includes aspects of both single camera narrative driven projects as well as multi camera modules designed for digital media.With state-of-the-art equipment and experienced faculty members who have a passion for new technology, the department of Cinematography for EDM can provide an all-around learning opportunity to the new generation of aspiring cinematographers.

Course objective

The course in Cinematography for EDM teaches students to be trend setting image acquisition professionals for the emerging media. A thorough grounding in the science and technology of digital image acquisition is complemented by teaching students the art of seeing the world differently and presenting it in a compelling manner that maximizes the impact of a fiction or nonfiction.Introduction to visual aesthetics, art appreciation, composition and shooting techniques, lighting theory etc. is complemented by the technical knowhow of the media involved. Extensive practical classes and working on a wide variety of programmes both inside studios as well as on location ensures that students absorb the hands-on skills needed to excel in the industry.
