About the department

The Department of Direction & Producing for Electronic & Digital Media conducts a little over three semesters of specialization which includes theoretical and practical inputs, guest lectures, workshops as well as exercises and projects. Students are taught the grammar of audio visual communication, given an exposure to different genres of both fiction and nonfiction programs for OTT platforms and Television. The theoretical input is supplemented by practical classes where students pick up the necessary skills for both single camera (fiction and nonfiction) and multi camera production. The department is equipped with 4K video cameras, DSLRS, professional microphones and editing systems, allowing students to master the basics of all aspects of production through the practical classes. These theoretical and practical inputs are interspersed with exercises where students perform various roles in the productions.

Course objective

The course is oriented towards equipping students with the skills and knowledge of the craft necessary to excel in careers in OTT and television direction and production. Graduating students should be able to work as program producers for television channels & OTT platforms. They would also be able to create and direct fiction shows and work as independent filmmakers. The course also gives students an exposure to the overall OTT and television market, which would aid students to plan their career paths in the fast-changing times.
