Ujjwal Chandra

Ujjwal holds a B.Com [Hons.] degree form St. Xavier’s college, Kolkata. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune having completed his One-year Post Graduate Certificate course in Direction [2004-2005] and Three year Diploma in Film Editing [2005-2008]. Subsequently, he established a successful career as a full-time professional Film Editor in Mumbai. 

His debut film as an Editor, Aadmi ki Aurat aur Anya Kahaniya [The man’s woman and other stories], directed by Amit Dutta, won the Special Jury mention award at the Venice International Film Festival [Orrizonti] in 2009. His subsequent works, Nainsukh [Director-Amit Dutta, 2010] and Anhey Ghorhey Da Daan – Alms for a blind horse [Director- Gurvinder Singh, 2011], were both featured in competition at the Venice International Film Festival [Orrizonti] in 2010 and 2011 respectively. To add to this Anney Ghodey Da Daan won 4 National awards for Best film [Punjabi], best director, best cinematography and best Laboratory, won the Golden Peacock at the International Film Festival of India 2011 and Black Pearl at the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival 2011.

His other films, Nabar [Director-Rajiv Sharma, 2012], a Punjabi film won the National award for the Best Punjabi Film 2012 and Walking with the Wind [Director-Praveen Morchhale, 2018], a Ladaki film won 3 National awards for Best Film [Ladaki], Best sound design, and best sound mixing. 

He edited two films produced by Yoodlee Film, [Saregama, India], Ajji [2017] directed by Devashish Makhija and Chaman Bahaar [2020] directed by Apoorva Dhar Badgaiyann. Ajji was in competition at the Busan and MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in 2017. 

His repertoire has several other notable films, including Barefoot to Goa [Hindi, 2012], Maroon [Hindi, 2016], and Loose Control [Marathi, 2017]. 

He has also edited a number of documentaries, short films and television commercials in his over 15 years long career.
